<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Washington-Redskins-Jersey.html”>Washington Redskins Jerseys</a> LONDON - Thousands of

people are putting their health and life savings at risk to travel to private clinics around the world for unproven and

potentially dangerous stem cell treatments, British experts said Tuesday.

A panel of specialists highlighted individual clinics in Germany and China where so-called stem cell tourists go for

unlicensed treatment, and said there may be up to 700 similar businesses globally offering unproven cell therapies.

Despite a lack of scientific evidence that such therapies work, patients whose lives are blighted with conditions like

Parkinson’s disease or childhood blindness are being lured into spending tens of thousands of dollars with little chance of

success. “The patient is in danger of losing their life and health, needlessly traveling long distances away from home,

friends and family, not having their condition improved, and potentially losing a large sum of money,” said Chris Mason of

University College London’s regenerative medicine bioprocessing unit.
<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Customized-NFL-Jerseys.html”>Customized NFL Jerseys</a>

The scientists cited one case of an Israeli boy who received a stem cell treatment in Russia for a spinal injury and

subsequently developed multiple tumors.

In another case, they said, a 46-year-old woman was treated in Thailand for the autoimmune disease lupus. She later developed

kidney failure and died from sepsis.

Stem cells are the body’s master cells that give rise to many different tissues and blood cells. They are standard treatments

for leukaemias and a few other genetic diseases, but their use in treating other conditions such as Parkinson’s, spinal

injury or optic nerve damage is as yet unproven.
<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Womens-NFL-Jerseys.html”>Womens NFL Jerseys</a>

The International Society for Stem Cell Research has previously warned of rogue stem cell clinics around the world seeking to

exploit desperate patients oblivious to the risks.

The British experts said they had been prompted to speak out because of a flood of requests they get from patients who read

about apparently dramatic cures on websites and in the media.

They said that while private clinics were not operating illegally, they were offering treatments that are unlicensed and in

many cases untested, and advised patients to steer clear.
<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Tampa-Bay-Buccaneers-Jersey.html”>Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jerseys</a>

Treatments can cost around $30,000 a patient, they said, and in the absence of clinical trial data to support their work,

clinics post patient testimonies on their websites from people who say they have been helped.

Health authorities in Costa Rica ordered the country’s largest stem cell clinic to stop offering treatments in June, saying

there was no proof they were effective.

Thailand and Mexico also offer stem cell treatments.

The British experts said they were particularly concerned about a firm in Germany called XCell-Center and a firm in China,

Beike Biotechnology, which offers stem cell treatments for a range of conditions including brain injury, cerebral palsy,

multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury and optic nerve damage.
<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Pro-Bowl-Jersey.html”>Pro Bowl Jerseys</a>

XCell said it would issue a statement Wednesday about the experts’ comments and Beike did not immediately respond to a

Reuters request for a response.

“These companies do not offer licensed therapeutics, so it is something the patients themselves have to sign consent forms

for,” said Peter Coffey of UCL’s ophthalmology institute, referring to the two named firms and others like them.

“The main issues around licensing a therapeutic is not just that it’s safe… but also to show efficacy. None of these

companies has ever been through that type of procedure.”

Robert McLaren, a consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London who was also on the panel, said there was “categorically”

no evidence to date that stem cell therapies could effectively treat retinal or optic nerve conditions.
<a href=”http://www.cheap-jersey.com/Super-Bowl-jersey.html”>Super Bowl Jerseys</a>

“Unfortunately we are dealing with patients who are completely desperate and willing to try anything,” he said.

Tottenham Hotspur has signed a deal under which specialist bank and asset management firm Investec will become its second shirt sponsor. <a href=”http://www.saleairmaxshoes.com/Air-Max-1.html”>Nike Air Max 1</a>

Software infrastructure company Autonomy is the White Hart Lane club’s shirt sponsor in the Premier League.

Now Investec will become shirt sponsor for Champions League and domestic cup competitions for the next two years.

The new shirt should be worn for a Champions League play-off first leg match away to Swiss side Young Boys.

This season Spurs are also involved in the FA Cup and League Cup competitions.
<a href=”http://www.saleairmaxshoes.com/Air-Max-1-Leather.html”>Nike Air Max 1 Leather</a>

The club is also looking for a naming rights sponsor for its proposed new stadium.

The Autonomy deal is worth £20m, and the Investec deal is believed to be worth worth £5m over two years, although the club has not disclosed the value.

“It seems if clubs can cut their sponsorship cloth a different way the can extend their offer to more than one brand,” says Nigel Currie of sponsorship consultancy Brand Rapport.
<a href=”http://www.saleairmaxshoes.com/Air-Max-1-Mesh.html”>Nike Air Max 1 Mesh</a>

“I think that other clubs may now look at ways of increasing the value of their shirt sponsorship.”

However it remains to be seen how many fans will fork out for both shirts.

The move to split the shirt sponsorship between league matches and cup competitions is understood to have been the idea of club chairman Daniel Levy. <a href=”http://www.saleairmaxshoes.com/Air-Max-1-Premium.html”>Nike Air Max 1 Premium</a>

Autonomy and Investec are only the fifth and sixth brands to appear on the club’s shirts, taking over from online betting company Mansion.

Overweight people are more likely to make frequent trips to their GP than smokers or those who are generally unfit, say Dutch researchers. Air Max+ 2009

The findings cannot be explained by overweight people having a higher risk of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, the analysis showed.

Rising rates of obesity means nurses may have to take some of the pressure off doctors, they said.

The research is published in Family Practice.

The team from Maastricht University looked at GP data from almost 4,500 adults.
Womens Air Max 1

Participants also filled in a questionnaire designed to find out about their lifestyles, such as their diet, whether they smoked, how much they drank and how much exercise they did.

They expected to find that the most unhealthy or unfit people would visit their GP more often.

But of the lifestyle factors looked at, only body mass index (BMI) was independently associated with frequent visits to the doctor.

The finding was true of both men and women and was not accounted for by higher rates of chronic illness.
Minor complaints Air Max 2010

Although the researchers could not conclude from the study why overweight people may visit their GP more often, they speculated they may have more minor complaints, such as sleep problems or musculoskeletal pain.

Study leader Dr Marjan van den Akker said further work was needed to unpick the reasons for frequent attendance.

And she added that GPs would come under increasing pressure as obesity becomes more common and other ways of managing demand may need to be considered. Womens Air Max 2000

“The role of the nurse practitioner is already common in diabetic patients, chronic lung disease and the elderly, so it’s very feasible that they could take on this role.”

Dr David Haslam, a GP and chair of the National Obesity Forum, said the results certainly reflected what he saw in his practice.

“It’s good news that they are worried about their health and want checking out but we also know that we have to do more to identify and manage overweight patients.
Air Max 2010 Leather

“Practice nurses are the mainstay of treating these patients because they can spend longer with them and have the opportunity to give lifestyle advice.”

Global wheat supply forecast cut

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has sharply cut its outlook for world wheat production after revising down its crop forecast for Russia. Air Max 90-360

Global production would be 15.3m tonnes lower at 645.7m tonnes, it said.

The production outlook for Russia, which has seen its crops devastated by drought and extreme heat, was lowered by 15% to 45m tonnes. Neighbouring Kazakhstan also had its forecast cut.

But world wheat stocks still remain above crisis levels seen in 2007-08.

The USDA said stocks would fall from just under 194m tonnes to 174.8m tonnes.

Record levels

The cut to production forecasts was bigger than analysts had expected.

But it was offset somewhat by increases in production forecast in the US, India, Australia and Uzbekistan.

The USDA report also predicted that reduced supplies and higher prices would reduce global consumption of wheat.
Air Max 90 360

Earlier this month, fears about production levels lifted wheat prices on the futures markets to their highest levels for two years.

But the USDA sought to play down concerns that wheat prices would continue to rise to levels last seen during the food price crisis three years ago.

“Expectations that prices in the next few months will hit the record levels of 2007-08 are not substantiated by the reality of the global supply situation,” it wrote.

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat for September delivery rose about 3% to $7.25 a bushel after the USDA announcement.
Drought and fire

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had already warned that this year’s grain harvest would be worse than previously thought.

Last week, Russia announced a ban on the export of grain from 15 August to 31 December, after crops were hit by drought and wildfires. Air Max 90 Chi Town

President Dmitry Medvedev said the events had destroyed a quarter of crops.

“Unfortunately many farms are on the verge of bankruptcy on account of the death of the harvest,” he said on a visit to an agricultural region in the south of the country.

Last year, Russia was the world’s third largest wheat exporter, behind the US and Canada, according to the USDA.

The USDA also cut its wheat production forecasts for Kazakhstan by 18%. It is suffering the same conditions as Russia. Ukraine had its forecast cut by 15%.

“The FSU [Former Soviet Union] numbers were breathtaking. We haven’t seen USDA make an adjustment like that for some time,” said Jerry Gidel, an analyst for North America Risk Management.

South African journalists have launched a campaign against proposed legislation which they say would curtail press freedom and threaten democracy. Air Max 2009 Leather Si

In a declaration published in papers on Sunday and Monday, more than 30 prominent editors called on the government to abandon the planned laws.

The proposals would allow the government to classify material that is currently not secret.

And a special tribunal could fine or jail journalists for inaccuracies.

The ruling African National Congress (ANC) says new legislation is needed to make journalists legally accountable for inaccurate reporting. Nike Air Yeezy

“Free speech and access to information are the lifeblood of our democracy and we are at the very heart of the struggle for freedom,” the editors’ statement, known as the Auckland Park Declaration, said.

“We appeal to the South African government and the ruling ANC to abide by the founding principles of our democracy, and to abandon these proposed measures.”

BBC Africa analyst Martin Plaut says the new laws would leave journalists facing jail terms of between five and 25 years, if they disclose information prejudicial to the country.
Air Max+ 2009

Even possession of classified documents would be an offence, he says.
‘National interest’

Some journalists have said the planned tribunal reminds them of methods used to control journalists during the time of apartheid.

Last week, the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA), which represents the country’s 20,000 lawyers, said the proposed legislation contains a definition of “national interest”, which was “so broad that it could potentially cover every aspect of a citizen’s life”. Nike Air Zenyth

The co-chairperson of the LSSA, Max Boqwana, said the legal plans would tarnish South Africa’s reputation as a free country.

“Quite honestly it will be a sad day, not only for the media but for democracy,” he told the BBC.

“We continue to pride this nation as the country that has got one of the best entrenchment of freedoms throughout the civilised world. Air Max 2010

“And, this will not have, only a negative impact on the media, but it will have a negative impact on our country in general.”

A bomb explosion at Zamboanga airport in the southern Philippines has killed two people and injured 24.
Air Max 90 High

The blast on Thursday killed the suspected bomber immediately and caused the death of a bystander on Friday.

It came just before the US ambassador to the Philippines, Harry Thomas, was to arrive; he cancelled the visit.

The US maintains a rotating force of at least 500 troops in the south of the country where overlapping insurgencies and kidnap gangs are operating.

A British resident of the area, 69-year old Charles McKercher, was among the injured.
Womens Air Max LTD2

The police chief, Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, said witnesses and security cameras suggested the bomb had been carried by the attacker into the airport hidden in his backpack.

“He was the one who carried the bomb pack. We are investigating if he is a suicide bomber,” Mr de Ocampo said.

There is no history of suicide bombing in the area.
Air Max 90 Leather

Police are investigating the theory that the suspected bomber may not have known he was carrying a bomb which may have been detonated remotely.

The Governor of Sulu, Sakur Tan, has said he thinks the bomb was intended for him.

Governor Tan has led aggressive campaigns against the Abu Sayyaf, a kidnap gang based in his area.

He was grazed by the explosion when he arrived off a plane from Manila.

“I believe I was the target,” Mr Tan told reporters, saying the device went off just a metre away from him.

“I saw the flash very clearly.”

“I have received intelligence reports that I would be bombed,” he told local TV on Friday.

Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has fired the director-general of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Ndi Okereke-Onyuike, and suspended its chairman.
Air Max 1 Premium

The move is being seen as an effort to restore investor confidence following growing fears over governance issues.

The action was taken by SEC head Arunma Oteh who took office at the beginning of 2010 promising tougher regulation.

The SEC has named ex-Deloitte executive Emmanuel Ikazoboh as its new chief.
Air Max Turbulence

The former chief executive of Deloitte in West and Central Africa will now be responsible for managing sub-Saharan Africa’s second-biggest stock exchange for a caretaker period.
‘Strong move’

The SEC sacked Ms Okereke-Onyuike and suspended the stock exchange’s president, Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote.

Brokers arriving for work on Thursday were met by armed police who were there to ensure there was no challenge to the SEC directive. Air Max 180

“This strong move by the SEC to get a grip of the situation and try to resolve the leadership crisis can only improve investor confidence, especially if the proposed interim administrator organises elections in a timely manner,” said Kayode Akindele, a director at financial advisory firm Greengate Strategic Partners.

Last month financial regulator Arunma Oteh said she would bring 260 organisations and individuals to a special tribunal over alleged abuses in the country’s stock markets. Air Maxim 1

Nigeria’s banking crisis last year exposed widespread abuses in the capital markets.

As Nigeria’s banks came close to collapse, it became clear that lax regulation and inadequate surveillance of stockbrokers was a major problem.

A car bomb has exploded outside a police station in Londonderry.
Air Max 90 CL

It is understood a taxi driver was forced to bring the device to Strand Road police station early on Tuesday by two men armed

with a gun

No-one was injured in the explosion, which happened near an old people’s home and an apartment block.

The explosion at about 0320 BST damaged the police station’s perimeter wall and a number of nearby businesses. Police said a

telephoned warning was given. Air Max 90 Classic

SDLP Mayor of Derry Colum Eastwood blamed dissident republicans for the attack.

“Police didn’t even have time to evacuate a nursing home or apartments right beside the police station.

“We are very lucky today not to be talking about fatalities. It’s an attack not just on the police but the entire community.”
‘Panic’

Lotfi Jalloul, whose kebab shop was destroyed in the blast, had been cleaning up for the night when he saw the car arrive at

the police station. Air Max Elite

“I thought he was a taxi driver picking up a passenger but about 15 minutes later, we were evacuated by the police,” he said.

“There was a lot of panic. I left the money in the till and didn’t even get the chance to pull down the shutters - thank God

we got out of there, I can’t believe we’re still alive.”

He said he had been told his business had been destroyed by the explosion but had not yet been able to see what damage was

caused because the area remains cordoned off.
Air Max 90 Current Flywire

Conor Kelly, who lives in an apartment block near the police station, said it had been a terrifying experience.

“I was still awake and reading when I heard an enormous noise like thunder and saw debris flying past my window,” he said.

“There were no alarms or attempts to evacuate the building.”
Air Max II

He said the front of a fast food outlet had been “ripped to shreds” and other buildings had windows blown out.

In May, a mortar bomb was fired at the same police station. It struck a wall but failed to explode.

The attack comes just weeks after Derry was picked to be UK City of Culture in 2013.

SDLP MP Mark Durkan said the bombing was “a cowardly, dangerous and vulgar act”.
Air Max 90 High

“Those responsible for this incident have achieved nothing and this campaign of violence will achieve nothing,” he said.

Sinn Fein assembly member Martina Anderson said: “I would call on those who support the groups involved in this kind of

activity to explain to the people of Derry the rationale behind this futile campaign.

Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed a Hamas fighter and wounded several other people.
Air Max 90

Missiles struck central Gaza and Gaza City late on Friday; tunnels on the strip’s southern border were also hit.

The strikes came after a rocket fired from the coastal enclave by militants earlier on Friday hit the Israeli city of

Ashkelon on the Mediterranean coast.

That attack caused no casualties but damaged a building and cars in the city, 12km (7 miles) north of Gaza.
Air Max 95

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier said he took the rocket attack on Ashkelon - which has a population of

125,000 - “very seriously”.

The city’s mayor said the attack was the most serious since Israel ended an offensive against the Gaza Strip in January 2009.
Reduced violence

Hamas - the Islamist group which controls the territory - named the dead militant as Issa Batran, 42 - a commander of the

group’s military wing in central Gaza and a rocket maker.
Nike Air Burst

The military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, said eight other Hamas supporters and three civilians were also injured in air

strikes on a Hamas military training camp in Gaza City, smuggling tunnels along the Gaza-Egypt border and a target outside a

central Gaza refugee camp.

The group said it would avenge the killing.

Israel’s military confirmed the air strikes and said they came in response to the Ashkelon attack.

Rocket fire from Gaza has reduced in the past year after Hamas reined in attacks, but sporadic fire from other militant

groups continues.

Correspondents say such attacks are almost always ineffective, with rockets mostly landing in open fields.

Satellite TV group BSkyB has reported a sharp jump in annual profits, driven by new subscriptions, particularly for high

definition (HD) services. Air Max TN 8

Pre-tax profit for the year to the end of June came in at £878m, up more than threefold on the £259m the broadcaster made in

the previous 12 months.

Revenue also rose to £5.9bn, up more than 10% on the £5.4bn recorded a year earlier.

The company said it had doubled the number of HD customers over the year.
Air Max 2010 Leather

Between April and June, it added 429,000 HD customers, most of which were already Sky subscribers.

The group added 90,000 new customers over the quarter, to reach 9.86 million in total.

It also announced a multi-year deal with US network HBO, producer of hit shows such as Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm

and The Wire, to air exclusively some of its programmes.
Air Max TN Special Edit

On Wednesday, rival Virgin Media reported a 7% rise in revenue to £964m for the three months to 30 June. It attracted 9,100

new customers during the period.

It did not publish a pre-tax profit figure, but reported a net loss of £68.5m, compared with a net loss of £55m a year

earlier.
‘Tough environment’ Air Max 2010 Mesh

“We’ve had another good quarter to bring our financial year to a strong close,” said BSkyB’s chief executive Jeremy Darroch.

“HD continues to go from strength to strength.”

The company also said more customers were choosing a broader range of bundled services, with one in five now taking TV,

broadband and telephone. Air Max TN10

It said it had performed well in a “tough consumer environment” and would continue to stay focused despite the “uncertain

economic outlook”.

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation is seeking to take full control of BSkyB, by acquiring the 61% of the shares it does not

already own. Air Max 2012

News Corporation’s initial offer of 700 pence a share, which values BSkyB at around £12bn, was rejected. BSkyB said it wanted
